Dental Implants

For patients who were missing teeth, the only option to replace them for many years was to get dentures. Since the dawn of dental implants, patients with healthy bone structure and strong immune systems have been able to obtain permanent, natural looking replacements for their missing teeth. Patients who fit the two criteria can expect success from the procedure.

Dental implants are comprised of several parts and are applied over several visits. At the first appointment, the dentist will place a titanium anchor into the jaw bone. It can take weeks or even months for the implanted root to heal. In subsequent office visits, the dentist fits a natural-looking tooth over the anchor. The completed implants mimics the look and feel of natural teeth.

There are four types of dental implants. They are full upper implants, full lower implants, anterior implants (replacements of the front teeth, or incisors and cuspids), posterior implants (replacement of the hind teeth, or bicuspids and molars) and single tooth replacements.
